2016

The school and kindergarten move to the new school complex

In January 2016 the school moved to a new school complex with a capacity of 650 students and 130 students in kindergarten. The complex is located in the city centre, close to a park and public and administrative buildings. The school contains infrastructure and equipment that meet the standards expected of a modern school for effective teaching and learning alongside arts and sports for students from 2 to 19 years of age. The complex was built with funds provided by private funding and the JESSICA loan initiative, provided by the Fund for Sustainable Urban Development of Sofia EAD and the Operational Programme "Regional Development" at the Ministry of Regional Development.

In 2016 Mr. Justin Kilcullen-Nichols became the Principal of the school.

In 2016, St. George International School & Preschool received accreditation as a Cambridge International School and Cambridge Primary school providing students and teachers access to a high quality academic programme with international recognition. Students prepare to sit exams in Maths, English and Science according to the standards of Cambridge Primary Checkpoint based on the UK national curriculum Key Stages 1 and 2, Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint based on the UK national curriculum Key Stage 3, Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International Advanced Level alongside the exams for the National External Assessment in accordance with the Law for pre-school and school education in the republic of Bulgaria.

2015

Wonder World Kindergarten became Saint George

In 2015, the name of the kindergarten changed from Wonder World to Saint George in order to unify the values and educational standards of both institutes under one brand.

2014

Saint George School is registered with the UK Department for Education

In 2014 Saint George School registered with the UK Department for Education (ISN: 1,440,085) with the status of International school and became a member of COBIS (Council of British International Schools).

2013

Saint George School became an official training centre of EDEXCEL International

In 2013 Saint George became an official training centre for Edexcel International (Centre Number 97020). This provided students and teachers access to the educational resources of Pearson Edexcel. The students prepared in parallel to sit exams in Maths, English and Science in accordance with the standards of the Edexcel International Primary Curriculum which is based on the UK national curriculum Key Stages 1 and 2, Edexcel International Lower Secondary Curriculum, based on the UK national curriculum Key Stage 3 and the exams of the National External Assessment under the Education Law of the Republic of Bulgaria.

2004

“Saint George” School

Maintaining the kindergarten’s traditions Saint George school was opened in 2004, approved by the Minister of Education as a private secondary school with bilingual education. The first principal of the school was Daniella Severinova.

In the 2004-2005 academic year the school accepted 32 students in the preparatory group. In the following years the number of students increased, as of 2015-2016 it reached 162. Due to the lack of adequate infrastructure at that time, some of the graduates of the 4th and 7th grade chose to continue their education at other schools in Bulgaria and abroad.

To meet the needs of its’ students, the school aims to provide them with access to international educational programmes, thereby increasing their competitiveness in terms of admission to elite national and foreign universities.

The opening of Wonder World Kindergarten

The history of the school dates back to 1995 when Wonder World kindergarten was founded by Mrs. Daniela Severinova. By learning a language at an early stage of development in a family-like environment, the children learned to speak fluent English and Bulgarian. Graduates of the kindergarten have been accepted into the best schools in Sofia.
