EXTRACURRICULAR

After classes, students may participate in extracurricular activities for an additional fee. Depending on their age and individual needs they can choose between activities in arts, sports, foreign languages, and many others. The students may choose additional activities at the beginning of each term. Each activity has different requirements in regard to the minimum and maximum number of students to form a group.

    ARCHITECTURE „Architecture Workshop for Children“ The architecture workshop is the place for all children who love to explore and create, and who love to be provoked with a variety of challenges for their mind. During the classes, children build with clay, wood and boxes; they create sample structures of various materials and have fun. The work at the workshop improves the teamwork skills as well as the ability to identify problems and find creative solutions. The aim of the classes is not to prepare the children to become architects, but to encourage them to use their imagination and critical assessment.     ART SCHOOL   Art School “Impresia”   A team of qualified instructors teaches the children how to paint on textiles, glass, ceramics and other interesting and fun methods for painting and decoration of surfaces. The children become acquainted with the basics of fine arts, painting with oil, acrylic and aquarelle paints, coal, chalk, graphite and colour pencils. These activities help broad the children’s knowledge and encourage their creativity through various applied techniques.     BALLET Ballet school Vaya Dance Studio   Founded in 2005, the Studio provides classical ballet training for children aged from 4 to 18 years. The children become acquainted with classical dance through the principles of the Russian School of Agripina Vaganova. The programme is adapted and designed in accordance with the age of the children, their previous experience and has reduced number of lessons in comparison to professional ballet schools. Being an art, so different from the real life, the ballet helps balancing the emotional and mental state of the children.     FENCING Physical education teacher at St. George International School & Preschool   Fencing provides a unique combination of physical, intellectual and emotional stimulation. It enhances coordination, concentration, endurance as well as maintaining and developing the cardiovascular system.     FOLK DANCES, BALLROOM AND LATIN DANCES, MODERN DANCES (photo) Club “Dance Station” A team of young professionals, with years of experience in working with children, they have gained national popularity with their participation in dance performances, reality shows and festivals. Choreographers, who have won the world championship of dance shows in 2014 and 2015 in Portugal and Romania as well as being qualified teachers.     FOLK SINGING (photo) Music teachers at St. George International School & Preschool     Bulgarian folk music and song live in the minds of thousands of people. In all the years of existence, folk songs and music have preserved the Bulgarian spirit. The diversity in terms of modes, metro-rhythm, voicing, tools, folk dances and performance makes Bulgarian music unique and interesting worldwide. In the process of experiencing and learning songs the children learn to develop concentration and to strengthen their will. Vocal education plays an important role in the development of speech in children and gives them the confidence to express and assert them-selves. The specific technique develops excellent discipline and ability to focus, as well as the ability to work in a team, as each one of the team members puts his efforts in order to contribute to the collective goal. The skills which are acquired by the children remain for good. Social interaction, setting out goals, striving for leadership, maintaining good physical condition and acting responsibly are only a small group of qualities which are developed by the enthusiastic football players.

    MUSIC THEORY AND SOLFEGGIO (photo) Music teachers at St. George International School & Preschool   Music theory and solfeggio are an integral part of the growth of each musician. They help understand the logic and consistency behind each tune and song, and are mandatory for mastering any musical instrument or song. Music theory studies include the construction of chords, intervals, octave groups mode, tonality, rhythm and sizes. Part of the study of musical theory comprises guessing the intervals, chords and modes, tones by ear and musical dictation. Solfeggio develops not only the music abilities, but the correct intonation when singing. If your child has higher goals in music, these lessons are mandatory.     YOGA Club „Yoga Zdrave“   Yoga for children is a practice to obtain calm and balanced mind, healthy, energetic and flexible bodies and it teaches responsibility and discipline. The classes include fun activities and breathing exercises, suitable for children with different levels of ability. Emphasis is placed on the technique and accuracy of poses, and the importance of deep and regular breathing. The students develop their self-esteem, strength, attention, focus and concentration. Yoga strengthens physical health, muscle activity, flexibility, coordination, self-awareness, emotional intelligence and helps them to be confident and able to explore their feelings.
