OPENING CEREMONY AND FIRST WINS OF OUR TEAM AT THE WORLD SCHOLAR’S CUP - TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, YALE

13.11.2017

During day three the official opening ceremony of theWorld Scholar’s Cup - Tournament of Champions, Yale, took place, coinciding with its twentieth an anniversary. We are exceptionally proud that our school is the only one to represent Bulgaria at this respected event among 700 scholars from over 50 countries. Our student Misho was chosen to pose a question to the visiting lecturer – Mrs. Sue Biniaz, who has more than thirty years of practice in law and who drew the attention of the audience to the Paris Climate Agreement. After the official lunch at the Yale dining hall, the team split up into different groups to take part in the scavenger hunt and started to prepare for the debates.

Day four – start of the competitive rounds

On the first day of the debates, our team embarked on the competition, exploring questions in the field of history, technology, literature, science, and the arts. Each World Scholar’s Cup round features four academic events: team debate, scholar’s challenge, collaborative writing and scholar’s bowl. Our students completed the scholar’s challenge, wrote their creative writing pieces, and won well-earned second and third of total three debates on the following topics: “There is no such thing as perfect conspiracy”, “All countries should work together to explore space” and “It is silly to believe in luck”.

We are looking forward to more conquests by our team up to the end of the World Scholar’s Cup - Tournament of Champions, Yale.
